I so loved this post! I have prayer that consists of no words some days – just can’t even form the words. However, I know that God hears me and understands.

Great review Sue!
I so love this book! Always stays on living room table-often I find myself drawn to yet another verse or page.(much of which has been inked with highlighter)
One of the most valuable prayer tools I learned from reading this book last summer, is using prayer cards to remain anchored in prayer with God. What started out as 10 index cards quickly grew to 100. I’m always touched when I re-visit the pleas of a needy heart and verses I wrote to remind me of God’s faithfulness. Some cards stay tucked in my wallet-heartfelt reminders to whisper beloved names in prayer.
An excellent book that centers our thoughts and deepens our intimacy with God.

I very much enjoy this blog to which I subscribe via email so I don’t miss anything. LOVE the “Almighty Fine Print.” LOL. Haven’t done that with any of my blogs but it is a very nice reminder that while we may be able to swipe stuff, it is not ethical nor moral to do so. I preach prayer but my prayer life ebbs and flows . Thanks for this book recommend – I will look for it.

Sue – wonderful review. This is one of my favorite books and after reading this I want to go through it again. I appreciate Miller’s honesty and how he takes us on his prayer journey with him. How blessed we are that even when our words seem inadequate, God listens and knows the langauge of our hearts.

Thanks for sharing the one – I highly recommend it, too!

Thank you. Reading this book several years ago was a turning point for me; a significant beginning step on the path that lead me to becoming a lay oblate at New Camaldoli in Big Sur, California. I can also recommend Brother Benet’s other books.

Thank you for this review. I had a similar experience upon visiting the Abbey of Gethsemane. I felt drawn to notion of monastacism and the intentionality I saw expressed there. I look forward to reading this book.
